The candidate for the presidency of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, took part this Monday in the electoral debate with Víctor Font organized by Grupo Godó, where he defended the management of his board and the club’s future project.
During the debate, Laporta recalled the situation the club was in when his team took over the presidency and highlighted the institutional, sporting and economic recovery: “Thanks to the trust the members have given us, which has provided institutional stability, we now have a new stadium, a great team and a financially healthy club.”
The candidate also defended the sporting project led by Hansi Flick on the bench and Deco in the offices, emphasizing the good relationship between them: “Our sporting project is with Flick on the bench and Deco in the offices. We have a very competitive team with players from our academy and others who have come from outside. This is working and Font is the main threat to this sporting project.”
Laporta also stressed the club’s economic recovery and the financial credibility achieved in recent years: “The solvency ratios the club has today give us financial credibility. And Barça has returned to the European podium in terms of revenue generation.”
The candidate concluded by warning that putting the club in the hands of his rival would be a risk for the current project: “If we put Barça in the hands of a technocrat hiding behind a computer, we will end up bankrupt again.”
