“The attempts to destabilize the Club show a lack of experience and knowledge”

The now candidate in the elections of next March 15 explains to members in Igualada the keys that have enabled the Club’s sporting, economic, social and institutional recovery and assesses the start of the electoral campaign.

Joan Laporta visited Igualada today for a double event that included a meeting with around 150 members, who were able to meet and talk with the candidate in a close setting, followed by a conversation between Joan Laporta and Mishima singer, David Carabén. Both events took place at the Municipal Theatre l’Ateneu.

During the meeting with members and the subsequent conversation with Carabén, Joan Laporta explained in detail what “Defensem el Barça” means, the candidacy he leads and which aims to continue and consolidate the mandate that began in 2021 and complete the Club’s economic, institutional and sporting recovery. Laporta asked members for their vote ahead of March 15 in order to continue building one of the best cycles in the Club’s history and, specifically, to complete the Espai Barça project, with the new Spotify Camp Nou as its central piece; to continue consolidating the economic recovery through a strategy of financial discipline; to maintain sporting ambition in all sections through a unique model; and to keep guaranteeing the Club’s ownership model in the hands of FC Barcelona members.

In electoral terms, Joan Laporta assessed his proclamation as a candidate by the Electoral Board after the validation process of the submitted signatures was completed, as well as the start of the electoral campaign beginning tomorrow, March 6. Laporta explained that he “respects all candidacies,” but criticized the “attempts to destabilize the Club” surrounding the electoral process. The candidate argued that these claims “are out of place and irresponsible” and assured that his candidacy approaches the campaign with “knowledge and experience.”
